Aidan 5 Car sounds from a space heater 04/10/2011

Currently working on another episode of Aidan 5, and decided to use some sounds from this space heater that gets pretty interesting when powered up. Here is a clip of the raw space heater:

The low hum is coming from an Audio Technica ATM23 (for the gear heads), at the end of the plastic tube. The heater core, and temperature control areas were mic'd with a pair of NT5s.

Here are a few more versions of the heater, this time with a little help from some Sound Toys plugins.
Here is some Low Frequency material, taken from the ATM23
And the end result, programmed into Kontakt, Is a playable spaceship on a midi keyboard. The idea was that the ship would have two engines. One would control vertical thrust, and the other horizontal. The vertical thrust is controlled using the pitch wheel, the horizontal with the modulation wheel. I still need to do some tweaking with the engine turn on/off sequence, adjust the mix, and add some more detail to it, but we're getting there. Thanks to Rob from FATHOM for some Kontakt tips.
Thanks to Laura for the photos!
